President William Ruto on Wednesday commissioned a Ksh 130 million modern CT Scan Unit at Nakuru County Referral and Teaching Hospital.

With the country’s healthcare system is undergoing a major transformation, the Head of State said his administration will leverage on public-private partnerships to upgrade and modernise hospital equipment, ensuring quality healthcare for Kenyans.

“Under this model, private players are installing and maintaining critical medical equipment, with hospitals only paying for the services delivered,” he said.

The new CT Scan Unit in Nakuru is set to double the hospital’s capacity to 100 scans a day.

It also includes a heart treatment kit and is powered by AI technology.

“We will install over 70 such advanced machines in health facilities across the country under the same model, strengthening access to modern healthcare for all Kenyans,” said the President.

Ruto, who is on a developmental tour in Kenya’s youngest City, also broke ground for the construction of the Susan Kihika Primary and Junior School, Kiratina, Nakuru County.

In Kiratina, the President reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring quality education through the expansion and construction of modern schools across Kenya to guarantee equal opportunities for our children, regardless of their socio-economic background.

He later proceded to launch the Nakuru East Last Mile Connectivity Programme, which is part of the Ksh 2.6 billion investment to connect over 22,000 households to electricity in Nakuru County.
