Police investigating death of taxi driver in Machakos

Police are investigating the killing of a taxi driver, Samuel Mwangi, whose body was discovered in a thicket in Machakos.

The Machakos County Criminal Investigations Officer, Benedict Kigen, confirmed that Njoroge, a resident of Eldama Ravine, suffered severe head and body injuries.

Police say investigations into the murder of the taxi driver Samuel Mwangi will be pursued from Naivasha where the incident is believed to have occurred.

According to Njoroge’s wife, her husband was allegedly contacted by an individual seeking transportation for a family member to a hospital.

After losing contact with him, she filed a missing person report at the Naivasha police station.

In a separate incident, a driver of a minibus died in Kakamega after the vehicle he was driving caught fire.

Three other people including a boda boda operator are nursing injuries at a Kakamega hospital.

Eyewitnesses say the say the minibus was transporting ethanol when its tires burst, causing the driver to lose control before it overturned multiple times.

Meanwhile, a family in Watamu is calling for justice following the alleged assault of their 16year old son by police officers at Kizingo police station in Malindi sub-county.

The boy, a Form Three student was reportedly taken to the station after a disagreement while traveling in a matatu. The victim’s family, say officers assaulted the boy with a wooden bar, inflicting injuries on his thighs.
