President William Ruto has appointed Charles Kamau Karondo as the non-executive chairperson of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Board of Directors.
In a gazette notice dated August 8, 2025, the President said Karondo will serve a three-year term, effective immediately.
His appointment replaces businesswoman Mary Wambui Mungai, whose appointment at the CA has been revoked.
In the same gazette notice, Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eric Mugaa named Wambui as the non-executive chairperson of the Athi Water Works Development Agency Board for a similar three-year term.
She takes over from Karondo, whose appointment to the water agency was also revoked, in what appears to be an exchange of roles between the two.
Wambui is considered a close ally of President Ruto, while Karondo previously served as Personal Assistant (PA) to Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
