Three arrested, bhang seized in two separate operations

Police Officers have seized bhang and made arrests in two separate security operations in Ahero and Isiolo Towns in a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics.

In Ahero Town, officers who were on patrol flagged down a suspicious motorcycle suspected of carrying narcotic drugs. In a report, the police said the rider of the motorcycle defied orders to stop and sped off towards the Kamindubi area where he abandoned the motorcycle and its luggage and escaped on foot.

After a thorough search, four green sacks containing a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered.

Police have since launched investigations to identify and apprehend the suspect for arraignment.

In Isiolo Town, three suspects are behind bars for being in possession of substances suspected to be cannabis (bhang), along with cash believed to be the proceeds of the trade.

The arrests of the trio followed after Police Offiecrs conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting narcotic drug trafficking in the LMD area of Isiolo Township.

The National Police Service said the suspects were escorted to the station, where they were booked into custody to await processing and arraignment.

The exhibits were seized and secured as evidence.
