Four people were Monday morning killed and 11 others sustained injuries in a suspected terrorist attack on an eatery in Mandera County.
Among the deceased were three police officers and one female employee of the eatery.
Mandera County Police Commander Samuel Mutunga confirmed the incident, stating that the suspected attackers planted an improvised explosive device (IED) during the night hours.
“We believe the attackers planted the explosive in the wee hours of the night,” he added.
Twp people are reportedly in critical condition awaiting to be airlifted to Nairobi for further treatment, while the rest are currently being treated at Mandera County Referral Hospital
The police boss who condemned the incident, has cautioned against large gatherings and urged the public to report any suspicious activities.
He said a probe is underway to bring the perpetrators to book.
