As the KCSE exams come to a close this week, the government has assured that that integrity of the results will be safeguarded.

Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba has said that preparations for marking of the exam are underway adding that the center managers have been given strict briefs to reinforce operational discipline like switching off mobile phones and securing them under a lock and key.

The CS spoke in Kiambu County when he supervised the opening of KCSE exam papers for Geography and Physics at the Ruiru DCC’s offices.

He was accompanied by Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara and other Ministry officials.

Ogamba added that senior secondary schools will receive their first cohort of learners by January 12th, next year and that the learners transitioning under CBE will require support as they join their collegues undertaking the 8-4-4 curriculum.

Regarding the conflict reported between JSS teachers and secondary school heads, the CS said the matter is being addressed administratively and that there is no cause for concern.

He also said that the ongoing verification exercise by the Ministry regarding schools enrollment will enable the government to ensure there is fairness in distribution of resources among schools in all areas of the country.

This, he noted, will ensure densely populated areas like Ruiru get enough teachers and infrastructure like laboratories and libraries.

King’ara commended the government for addressing the issue of congestion in public schools in Ruiru and undertaking to post more teachers and improve infrastructure.

The legislator said some the institutions set to benefit include the Ruiru Vocational Training College and Ruiru Boys Secondary School where hostels are being constructed.
