Five people died Wednesday morning in an accident involving a bus, a tractor and a trailer between Machinery and Kambu towns along Mombasa- Nairobi highway in Makueni County.
Kibwezi Sub County police commander Peter Maina Joran confirmed the accident.
“The bus and the tractor were travelling from Nairobi towards Mombasa direction, where at the scene of the accident the bus rammed into the rear part of the tractor, and following the impact the bus moved to the opposite lane and hit the trailer truck that was coming from Mombasa heading to Nairobi direction,” said Maina while confirming the accident in the morning.
“Due to the impact, 5 people have died including drivers of the bus, tractor, trailer and two passengers who were in the truck,” he added.
He said some of the passengers onboard the bus suffered minor injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Maina cautioned the drivers to be careful on the road in order to save innocents lives of the people.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to Makindu hospital mortuary.
