Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has officially launched the distribution of 124 dairy goats project in Tiwi Ward, Matuga Sub-County.
The Sh.2.9 million project is set to benefit 118 livestock farmers in Tiwi Ramisi and Kubo South Wards.
Speaking during the issuance of goats, Governor Fatuma Achani has said the main objective of the project is to improve food, nutrition security and household income through increasing milk productivity.
“We want to ensure there’s increase of milk production from 0.25 litres from local goats to 1.25 litres per goat per day,”she emphasized.
Tiwi Ward MCA Juma Mwachivyomo asked the livestock farmers to take good care of the dairy goats.
“Let’s not sell the goats and then blame the Government,”he added.
Ali Mwakutunza a local thanked the Governor saying the project will reduce poverty among livestock farmers.
In Tiwi Ward,42 goats has been issued to 36 beneficiaries,Ramisi Ward 42 goats to 42 beneficiaries while in Kubo South 40 goats to 40 beneficiaries.
