Detectives have arrested six suspects linked to the fatal shooting of Constable Benard Koome Ithai, who was gunned down in the line of duty in Thika on June 18.
The suspects, Joseph Ngotho Karanja, Benjamin Kambo Mwangi, Athanase Ndacaisaba, Kelvin Mbilika Ollingo, Samuel Omurambi, and Philip Muiruri Muchiri, were taken into custody following an operation in Kahawa West and Kiamumbi, Nairobi.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), forensic leads led the team to a hideout in Kahawa West where five of the suspects were arrested.
The sixth suspect, Muiruri, was nabbed separately in the Kiamumbi area.
Police also seized a vehicle, registration number KDQ 529W, believed to have been used in the crime.

Constable Koome, 32, was fatally shot in the Cravers area after an altercation with a boda boda rider whose motorcycle lacked proper registration.
Witnesses said the officer was shot in the throat at close range after removing the ignition key from the unregistered motorcycle.
The assailant reportedly fled on foot before hijacking another motorcycle near Royale Hotel.
A loaded magazine was recovered at the scene by investigators.
The six suspects were arraigned at the Thika Law Courts, where detectives secured a 21-day custodial order to allow further investigations.
The case will be mentioned on August 11.
