National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula says the Government is committed to supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly those owned by youth and women.

Speaking in Bobasi Constituency at Nyamache Grounds, Kisii County during a women empowerment programme, Speaker Wetangula emphasized the Government’s strong commitment to support community-based groups designed to foster economic independence and self-reliance.

“This is being done by promoting structured, community-based groups designed to foster economic independence and self-reliance,” he said.

At the meeting, Speaker Wetangula also highlighted the immense agricultural potential of the region, noting its fertile soils and reliable rainfall which support vibrant farming of bananas, avocados, sugarcane, and other crops.

He was accompanied by several national and local leaders equally committed to advancing the empowerment agenda and supporting grassroots development initiatives.
