Over 2,000 candidates are sitting for the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) examinations which begun today countrywide.
The exams which are undertaken by human resource management professionals for both diploma and certificate students are being conducted in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret,Thika, Kisumu, and Nanyuki centres and will run until the 13th of August.
Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) Examinations are professional HR Exams taken by HR professionals to enhance HR competency.
Candidates sitting for the exams are drawn from private candidature and institutional-based with ver 300 candidates are expected to sit the CBET Diploma and Craft Certificate examinations.
The Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB) is a State Corporation established under Sec. 16 of the Human Resource Management
Professionals Act, No. 52 of 2012.
HRMPEB is mandated to Develop Curricula, Examine and Certify HR Professionals and is Accredited by the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) as a Qualification Awarding Authority (QAI).
CBET Diploma and Certificate exams are being undertaken. HRMPEB Milestones on Programme Expansion:
1) Introduction of CHRP Part Certificates
Starting April 2025, candidates who completed Part I, II, or III of CHRP now receive
individual certificates, enhancing recognition of progress.
2) Introducing Three Exam Series Annually
The Board expanded exam sittings from two to three annually: April, August, and
December starting in April 2025, improving access and flexibility for candidates.
3) Certification of CHRP Finalists
The Board held its 5th Certification Ceremony in October 2024, certifying and gazetting 708 CHRP graduates.
4. Accreditation of Training Institutions
Ten higher learning institutions were accredited in FY 2024/2025 to offer CHRP and
CBET programmes, reinforcing quality training across the country.
5. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) HRMPEB began implementing the RPL framework to formally recognise HR practitioners’ skills gained through work and informal learning.
6. Growth in Student Numbers Sitting CHRP Exams The number of candidates sitting for exams increased from 2,600 in FY 2023/2024 to about 3,000 in FY 2024/2025, contributing to higher revenue.
