Local vaccine production key to strengthening health security, says PS Oluga

The Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to local vaccine production, highlighting Kenya’s vision to produce the first locally manufactured vial by 2027.

Speaking during a meeting with AIM Co. Ltd, a global manufacturer, Dr. Oluga emphasised that developing local vaccine production is crucial for enhancing national health security, reducing reliance on imports, and positioning Kenya as a regional hub for vaccine manufacturing.

The discussions centred on partnership frameworks, technology transfer, and building local capacity to strengthen the country’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector.
