Ex-Central Bank of Kenya chairman Mohammed Nyaoga has been appointed as the new chairman of ABSA Bank Kenya.
The appointment which is effective October 1, 2025 has seen Nyaoga succeed Charles Muchene who has served as chair and director of the bank for for a period of nine years ending September 30, 2025.
Until his appointment, Nyaoga was serving the bank as am Independent Non-Executive Director since August 1, this year.
Nyaoga brings 40 years of experience in legal practice with specialty in Corporate Finance, Civil, Commercial Litigation, and Corporate Governance.
He previously served as chair EcoBank Kenya, and Chairman of the International Monetary Fund (Washington) External Experts Panel.
He currently serves as the Chairman of the African Development Bank Group’s Disclosure and Access to Information Appeals Panel.
The bank thanked Muchene for steering the lender into a strong business growth which has enhanced organizational resilience and made the bank a formidable financial institution.
