The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has postponed its 20th anniversary celebrations in Mombasa to mid-November to allow for broader engagement with counties ahead of the main event.
The party had initially planned the three-day celebrations for October 10 to 12, 2025, but following consultations with Party Leader Raila Odinga, the organising committee announced the new dates as November 14 to 16, 2025.
In a statement, National Assembly Minority Leader and chairman of the organising committee, Junet Mohammed, said the decision was reached after the team briefed the party leader on demands from counties yet to host the anniversary activities, noting that the celebrations have so far taken place in Busia, Wajir, Kisii and Narok counties.
He stated that the extended calendar will ensure inclusivity and allow supporters unable to travel to Mombasa to take part in the festivities.
“After careful consideration, the Party Leader graciously agreed to our request to expand the program and ensure inclusivity by engaging with more counties before converging in Mombasa for the grand celebrations,” said Mohammed.
The updated schedule includes a soccer tournament on October 9 and 10, followed by events in Kajiado on October 15, Turkana on October 26, Kilifi (Magarini) on November 2, and Nairobi on November 9.
“These activities will culminate in the ODM@20 Grand Celebrations in Mombasa, 14th – 16th November 2025,” said Mohammed.
He further assured ODM’s supporters that the anniversary will reflect the party’s values of unity, democracy and participation.
