Red hot Chebor eases to victory in 10km at National Cross Country in Eldoret

Maurine Chebor from the Kenya Police produced a dominant performance to win the 10 km senior women’s race at the National Cross Country Championship, which was also used to select the team to represent the country at the global championships early next year.

The 21-year-old who was in the leading pack for the five laps outsprinted at the bell to emerge victorious in 34:16.4 minutes, 3.4 seconds, ahead of South Rift’s Brenda Jepchumba and Glorious Jepkirui of Central Rift, who finished in 34:26.8 and 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.

Top six athletes were selected to represent the Country at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships set the USA on 10th January next year.
