The Nairobi Polo Club grounds transformed into the city’s most fashionable sporting venue as polo fans gathered for the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup.
While Lagos Polo Club ultimately triumphed over their Nairobi hosts with a decisive 5-2 victory, the real story unfolded off the field where fashion, cocktails, and music took centre stage.

Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador Wangari Mwangi, actor Pascal Tokodi, content creator Seth Gor, Joe Muchiri, Wyre Da Love Child and DJ Fully Focus were among the popular faces in attendance.
Fashion took a prominent role at the event with Itikadi fashion house showcasing a collection that represented contemporary elegance.
Attendees, dressed in everything from crisp linen suits to colourful dresses and statement hats, proved that Nairobi knows how to show up for events with style and flair.
Guests were treated to polo-inspired cocktails crafted by premium gin brand Tanqueray.
The tournament honoured Simon Kuseyo, a legendary Kenyan polo player who rose to become a five-goal handicap player, the highest-ranked Kenyan of his era. Kuseyo played across continents from the UK and USA to Nigeria and South Africa, earning admiration for his mastery and sportsmanship. The cup, established after his passing in 2000, celebrates players who perform above their handicap and embody the excellence and integrity that defined his career.
“Polo is a sport synonymous with craftsmanship, elegance and tradition,” said Nancy Nansikombi, Tanqueray Brand Manager. “As the Lagos and Nairobi clubs came together to play for the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup, we were reminded that style and mastery transcend borders.”
While Lagos took home the trophy with their 5-2 win, the afternoon proved that the real victory was in bringing together two communities united by their appreciation for sport, style and memorable experiences.
For Nairobi’s social scene, the Simon Kuseyo Memorial Cup has become more than just a sporting event. It’s where fashion meets tradition, where old friendships are renewed and new ones are formed, all against the backdrop of one of the world’s most elegant sports.
