Morocco’s AS FAR clinched the CAF Women’s Champions League 2025 title on Friday, after edging ASEC Mimosas from Ivory Coast 2–1 in a fiercely contested final played at the Suez Canal Stadium in Ismaila, Egypt.
The Moroccan giants, champions in 2022 and finalists last season, completed their redemption in dramatic fashion to lift their second continental crown.
The victory places AS FAR alongside Mamelodi Sundowns as the only clubs to have won the tournament twice, further cementing their status among the continent’s elite.
AS FAR settled quickest into the match and were rewarded after 13 minutes when captain Hanane Aït El Haj calmly converted a penalty to give her side a 1–0 lead.
The Moroccans controlled much of the first half, maintaining their defensive discipline while probing for a second goal, and went into the break with the narrow advantage.
The Ivorian champions came out energised in the second half, making strategic changes that immediately shifted their momentum.
Their persistence paid off in the 55th minute when Ami Prisca Diallo struck the equaliser, from an assist by Sopie Philomène Marie Ange Brou, to bring ASEC level at 1–1.
The game opened up from there, with both teams trading attacks and substitutes introduced to influence the increasingly tense affair.
AS FAR earned a second penalty, and this time it was Zineb Redouani who stepped up, dispatching her effort past the goalkeeper to restore the Moroccans’ lead.
Substitute Sofia Bouftini made key contributions in midfield to help close out the match, while ASEC’s late attempts, including a last push led by Anastasie Aimée Gbéhi, fell short.
