Viktoria Ventures has been named “Angel Network of the Year 2025” at the Africa Early-Stage Investor Summit (AESIS) in Cape Town.
The award, presented by the African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and VC4A, recognizes the organization’s work in shaping and advancing the angel investing ecosystem across the continent.
The Nairobi-based platform has spent several years focusing on investor capacity building and strengthening early-stage investment structures in Africa.
Speaking at the summit, CEO Stephen Gugu said the organization’s work was driven by the belief that growing Africa’s startup landscape requires stronger angel networks and investor support systems.
Ahead of the summit, Viktoria Ventures co-hosted the AESIS Nairobi Investor Meetup with Jasiri4Africa, Von Seidels and the Nairobi Business Angel Network. The gathering addressed challenges around mobilizing local capital for startups and the role of collaboration among investors and ecosystem players.
One of the organization’s flagship initiatives is the Angel Leads Program delivered through the African Angel Academy (AAA) and sponsored by UK Kenya Tech Hub.
The programme provides training and support for new angel investors and has contributed to the formation of regional investment groups in cities including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret.
Alumni of the programme recently established the Moneva Syndicate, which went on to invest in Afyalishe Wellness Ltd, a Kenyan functional foods startup.
Viktoria Ventures has expanded its reach across the continent, training hundreds of investors from more than 30 countries and fostering communities of early-stage investors.
Alumni of its programmes have gone on to take leadership roles in the wider ecosystem, including the election of Yemi Keri as President of ABAN.
To improve access to deal flow, the organization has also partnered with Africa: The Big Deal, giving its network access to curated pipelines of investment opportunities.
The African Angel Academy will launch its next cohort in 2026 as demand for investor training and startup syndication continues to grow across the region.
