The Kenya Veterinary Association (KVA) anticipates increase knowledge exchange and enhance technical collaborations that will help the country improve public health during the upcoming agrifood expo.
KVA Honorary Secretary Dr Carol Khaemba said the 10th International Trade Expo AgroFood-Plastpack-Paper slated for next month would include scientific discussions focusing on animal health, food safety, animal welfare, disease prevention and emerging technologies shaping livestock production.
According to Khaemba, veterinarians play a critical role in disease surveillance, zoonotic disease prevention, food safety, antimicrobial resistance management, livestock certification and emergency response.
“Our participation underscores the critical role veterinary professionals play in transforming agriculture and safeguarding public health,” she said, noting that healthy livestock are central to food security, productivity, sustainable trade and economic growth,” she added.
The expo organized by Dubai-based MXM Exhibitors, KVA and the Institute of Packaging Professionals Kenya (IOPPK) will bring together expertise from agriculture, livestock, veterinary services, food processing, packaging and manufacturing.
MXM Exhibitors representative Axan Rashid said the exhibition has developed into an important platform for knowledge exchange and commercial networking.
“The exhibition brings together key stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain to showcase emerging technologies, facilitate business partnerships and promote investment opportunities,” said Rashid.
With at least 200 exhibitors from 60 countries expected, the exhibition will feature dedicated sections covering agriculture, livestock, poultry farming, irrigation, greenhouse technology, food processing machinery, cold-chain logistics, food ingredients, plastics manufacturing, printing technology and sustainable packaging.
