Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sleuths have arrested an imposter who has been presenting himself as a detective at the agency.
The suspect identified as Militonic Mwendwa Kitute, was tracked from Nairobi to his Kitui home where he was arrested on Saturday at 4 am.
His firearm and seven mobile phones are among items confiscated from him.
The serial imposter, who has a conviction history and unsuccessfully vied for a Parliamentary seat in the 2022 general elections, was arrested on Saturday and is currently detained at Kilimani Police Station.
“An armed and dangerous criminal who has been conning Kenyans while impersonating EACC Detectives, as well as issuing fake Integrity Clearance Certificates to job seekers at a fee, in the names of top EACC officials, has been arrested,” said EACC in a statement.
The suspect was escorted from the Integrty centre to Milimani Law Courts.
