Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has filed an appeal against his 12-year prison sentence and Ksh53.5 million fine handed down by the Anti-Corruption Court over a Ksh588 million tender scandal.

Waititu who was convicted on last Thursday by Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzioki, was found guilty of irregularly awarding a contract for upgrading gravel roads in Kiambu County during the 2017-2018 financial year.

In addition to his sentence, the court barred him from holding public office for 10 years.
