Popular Sci-fi anthology series, ‘Black Mirror’ will premiere its seventh season on April 10 on Netflix globally.
Created by Charlie Brooker, ‘Black Mirror’ has built a global cult following with its speculative takes on the dark intersections between humanity and technology.
Season 7 promises to dive deeper into those themes with six brand-new episodes.
Among the season’s major highlights is a much-anticipated sequel episode titled “USS Callister: Into Infinity” which marks the show’s first-ever follow-up storyline, revisiting the award-winning Season 4 episode “USS Callister.”
Original cast members Cristin Milioti, Billy Magnussen, and Jimmi Simpson are all set to return for this continuation of this space exploration episode.
The upcoming season also features an impressive lineup of talent, including Issa Rae, Awkwafina, Paul Giamatti, Emma Corrin, and Rashida Jones, with each actor starring in standalone episodes tackling a range of subjects — from artificial intelligence and digital consciousness to surveillance culture and algorithmic ethics.
The official trailer, released in mid-March, offers chilling glimpses into the new season’s plots, continuing the series’ tradition of examining the potential perils of modern innovation.
Speaking to the BBC about the show’s longevity and relevance, creator Charlie Brooker expressed optimism for the future of the series.
“I hope it will run and run,” he said, emphasising the limitless potential of the show given its storyline.
