Kenyan leaders and citizens have lauded Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Guo Haiyan, for her efforts in promoting Kenya’s global tourism and enhancing the country’s appeal. They said her initiatives have helped showcase Kenya’s natural wonders and rich cultural heritage to the world.

Ambassador Guo highlighted Kenya’s travel attractions during China Media Group’s (CMG) live broadcast of the 2025 Great Wildebeest Migration.

In a special video message, Ambassador Guo remarked that Kenya offers unique tourism experiences and welcomed CMG’s real-time coverage of the annual event. She described it as a powerful signature moment that enables both Chinese and global audiences to witness and appreciate the spectacle from anywhere.

“This is a very important part of culture and tourism season and will be a perfect opportunity for international audience to watch the world’s greatest annual terrestrial wildlife migration in real time,” she stated.

The envoy pointed out that the event is not only a visual feast but also an excellent opportunity to promote the China-Kenya Culture and Tourism Season, which was officially launched in June as part of the outcomes from President William Ruto’s state visit to China earlier this year.

“I believe this event will further promote culture and tourism cooperation between the two countries and attract more tourists to visit the magical Kenya,” Ambassador Guo stated.

Her remarks were met with appreciation from Kenyans and government officials.

Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano praised the ambassador’s initiative, saying, “We greatly revere this partnership, Balozi – telling the Magical Kenya story through experience!”

She noted that the Great Migration is a continuous natural phenomenon and one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth.

Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Korir Sing’Oei, also expressed gratitude to the ambassador for positioning Kenya as a prime destination for tourists from China and beyond.

“Thank you excellency Amb Guo Haiyan for your support in amplifying Kenya’s tourism offering to China and the world,” he posted on X.

Citizens expressed their gratitude online, with many hailing the CMG coverage as a transformative step in boosting Kenya’s tourism.

“Thank you so much, Ambassador, for the exclusive coverage. Kenya remains the best global destination for tourists,” Captan Kipkorir posted on X.

A user known as Red Army wrote: “It’s always good to have you around showcasing to the world our Magical Kenya. Karibu tena.”

“Good news for Kenya,” said @Kyle_Kyrie2. “It is indeed encouraging to see the most populous nation enjoying all that comes with Magical Kenya.”

“Kenya is grateful for this partnership and for your overwhelming support of the great annual migration. More tourists, greater economic growth,” added another user known as SOJ on X.

During the official launch of the 2025 China-Kenya Culture and Tourism Season in June, Ambassador Guo emphasized that the season will feature a variety of events, including cultural performances, exhibitions, educational exchanges, and tourism promotion campaigns across both nations.

“With the China-Kenya relations being upgraded and entering the phase of building the China-Kenya community with a shared future, historic opportunities are emerging for further deepening and developing the bilateral cultural and people-to-people exchanges,” she stated.
