The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) has set a target of handling up to 8 million air passengers through Cambodia’s international airports in 2026, up from nearly 7 million recorded in 2025.

The target was announced at the closing ceremony of the SSCA’s annual meeting held on Feb. 27, under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Mao Havannall, Minister in Charge of the SSCA, with the participation of senior officials from relevant ministries and institutions, as well as representatives from the aviation industry.

According to the SSCA report, the Kingdom is expected to record 8 million air passengers, 112,000 tonnes of air cargo, and more than 72,000 inbound and outbound flights in 2026, driven by growing demand for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

To support this growth, the SSCA will continue improving the civil aviation environment through the development of a roadmap aimed at ensuring the sustainability of Cambodia’s aviation sector in 2026, the report said.

Dr. Mao Havannall praised the steady development of the aviation industry, attributing the positive results to the Royal Government of Cambodia’s policies, particularly the “Open Sky Policy,” which aims to attract international airlines, increase flight frequencies, and boost tourism and trade.

“Cambodia’s civil aviation sector plays a vital role in transporting passengers and goods via national and international air routes, contributing significantly to tourism, trade, investment, people-to-people connectivity, and cultural exchange,” he underlined.

Currently, Cambodia operates three international airports—Techo International Airport, Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, and Sihanouk International Airport—and one domestic airport, Dara Sakor Airport, all of which play an important role in the Kingdom’s air transport system.

In 2025, Cambodia recorded 6.98 million air passengers, an increase of 12 percent compared to 2024. Total flight movements reached 64,821, up 11 percent year-on-year, while air cargo volumes surged by 21 percent to 93,889 tonnes.

Cambodia is currently served by 36 airlines, including four domestic and 32 foreign carriers, with direct connections to 52 destinations in 18 countries, according to the SSCA.

Of these destinations, eight are within ASEAN, while others include mainland China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and Turkey.
