Court grants Ian Njoroge Ksh700,000 bond

Ian Njoroge, the youth who allegedly assaulted and robbed a traffic police officer along Kamiti Road, has been released a bond of Ksh700,000.

Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhumbi did not grant Njoroge the option of a cash bail, citing the seriousness of the offense committed.

Njoroge was charged on Tuesday with causing actual bodily harm, resisting arrest, and robbery with violence following the incident that occurred on Sunday.

He was also produced before the Traffic Court, where he faced three counts of causing obstruction and carrying excess passengers.

According to the prosecution, Njoroge robbed a police officer identified as Jacob Ogendo of a police communication gadget and a Samsung phone worth Ksh50,000.
