A new global platform is opening up fresh opportunities for photographers, storytellers, and digital creatives to thrive using the power of their smartphones.

The Mobile Photography Association (MPA), a non-profit initiative unveiled in Nairobi by Tecno Mobile, is set to revolutionise how visual stories are told by putting the spotlight on creators and the communities they represent.

Launched with the mission to empower, educate, and elevate, the MPA aims to support the next generation of mobile photographers and content creators with tools, training, and global exposure.

The initiative will offer access to hands-on learning opportunities, including masterclasses, exhibitions, and research forums, helping creatives unlock their full potential regardless of where they are in the world.

“With the MPA, we’re not just launching a new product; we’re launching a movement,” a TECNO representative said. “This is about enabling creatives, especially across Africa, to share their stories with the world using the devices they already have in their pockets.”

Tools for the future

The MPA’s programs are powered by next-generation smartphone camera innovations, designed to meet the evolving needs of creators.

The recently released Camon 40 Series, featuring cutting-edge AI imaging tools and pro-level camera features, will serve as one of the platforms through which participants can create and experiment.

With Africa emerging as a dynamic hub for creativity and innovation, the MPA is especially committed to nurturing talent across the continent. The association envisions a world where mobile photography is not just an art form but also a viable path to economic opportunity, cultural exchange, and global recognition.
