Shaka iLembe Season 2 kicked off with a special premiere at Matteo’s Events in Karen, Nairobi, hosted by MultiChoice Kenya.

In the second season, we get a closer look at Shaka’s attempts to build alliances with several clans, including the Elangeni, Ndwandwe, Mabhudu, Mthethwa, Hlubi and Qwabe.

The series dives into the political tactics involved in forging these partnerships, which were crucial in forming what would eventually be the mightiest kingdom in the region.

What sets this season apart is the introduction of real historical figures, such as King Phungashe of the Buthelezi, Queen Lojiba and King Somhlolo of the Swati. This adds a genuine touch and makes the story more engaging than past adaptations.

The series also explores the increasing influence of British and Boer forces, showing how their presence impacted political choices in Africa during that time.

The premiere event was hosted by media personality Azeezah Hashim and was attended by a notable crowd, including South Africa’s High Commissioner, His Excellency Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, alongside Her Excellency Ms. Winpeg Moyo, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador and SADC Chair, Timothy Owase from the Kenya Film Commission, MultiChoice’s Kenya MD Nzola Miranda and Regional Director Glauco Ferreira.

The event highlighted the entertainment industry with familiar faces like Brahim Ouma, comedian Mwirigi, media personality Kalondu Musyimi, The Mommy Club NBO stars Lynne Njihia and Ofentse Tsipa among others.

Shaka iLembe Season 2 promises to not only entertain but also educate viewers about African culture and history during Shaka’s rise to power.
