Nairobi’s Prestige Plaza has long been a staple of the city’s social and retail scene, and now, thanks to a bold makeover, it’s reasserting itself as one of the capital’s favourite hangout spots.
Nestled along Ngong Road, Prestige Plaza is no stranger to city dwellers looking for a laid-back weekend, a quick retail fix, or a cozy movie date. But after a massive KSh. 400 million revamp, the mall now offers even more to explore—from stylish new retail spaces to Kenya’s largest interactive Family Entertainment Centre, Playza.
Covering 35,000 square feet across two floors, Playza is a major draw for fun seekers of all ages. It features a 12-lane bowling alley, including a section of flashy Hyper-Bowling imported from the U.S., a colourful mini-golf experience called Mind Golf, bumper cars, a ninja obstacle course, karaoke rooms, pool tables, and more. Parents will be glad, during this holiday season, to know there’s a Kids’ Play Zone too.
Meanwhile, adults can kick back at The Daily Cafe & Bistro, which offers bites and drinks in between rounds of play.
For film lovers, the twin-screen Prestige Cinema remains a cosy favourite—each theatre seats 229 guests and continues to show a curated mix of blockbusters and regional films.

Speaking when he confirmed the completion of the revamp works, Primrose Management’s Managing Director, Mr. Jitesh Upadhyay, said the firm is forecasting a steady recovery of the local retail trade economic sector, driven by an upswing in leisure services.
“The recent revamp works are inspired by our corporate belief that retail fortunes are recovering. With the support of our finance partners, NCBA Bank, we have invested more than KSh. 200 million in the Prestige Plaza touchups and a similar amount to integrate Playza, the most advanced Family Entertainment Centre in Kenya, to provide the ultimate shopping and leisure experience at Prestige,” Mr Upadhyay said.
The upgrades include escalators, modern washrooms, improved lighting, and stylish common areas that give the mall a fresh, contemporary vibe.
“Having celebrated Prestige Plaza’s 20th anniversary last year, we decided to spruce up Prestige by adding modern amenities, including escalators, lighting systems, washrooms and created space for new retail outlets,” Mr Upadhyay added.
With a 98% tenant occupancy rate and foot traffic on the rise, this proves that a smart blend of culture, commerce, and community is what keeps Nairobi coming back for more.
“Along with the new look and feel of the mall, we have a vibrant tenant mix, presently at 98% occupancy, which has resulted in increased traffic and an improved overall experience for our customers,” said Mr. Jimmy Ngugi, Commercial Director of GOInvest Property Consultants Limited, a real estate firm managing Prestige.
