EACC arrests two NGAAF officials in Kirinyaga over bribery claims

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two officials of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) based in Kirinyaga County following a bribery report received on 14th July 2025.

According to a statement, the suspects, Ephraim Maina the Chairman and Abigael Wambua the County Coordinator, were apprehended on 18th July 2025 after receiving a bribe of Kshs. 60,000 from representatives of Jererukizma Holdings Ltd as an inducement to facilitate payment of goods worth Kshs. 2.77 million.

“The officials had demanded a total of Kshs. 270,000.” Read the statement.

The third suspect, Lawrence Kaara who is the Procurement Officer has been directed to report to EACC Central Region offices on Monday.

Following their arrest, the suspects were booked at Kerugoya Police Station and later processed at EACC Central Regional Offices in Nyeri.

They have since been released on a cash bail of Kshs. 100,000 each pending their appearance before the Kerugoya Anti-Corruption Court.

EACC reaffirmed its committed to fighting corruption and upholding integrity in public service.
