They faulted the executive of failing to prioritize their welfare by ensuring they receive their dues on time.

The workers’ representatives who spoke at a press briefing on Friday said the executive had not even offered them any explanation with regard to the delay and their efforts to reach the concerned had not borne any fruits.

“We are heading to mid-February and yet to receive our January salaries making us unable to meet our financial obligations including paying rent, feeding our families or even getting fare to go to work,” said workers representative Aloysius Njoka.

County Government Workers Union Embu Branch Secretary General Benson Njeru faulted Governor Cecily Mbarire for reneging on her campaign promises of improving their working conditions.

They called on the county leadership to engage the workers’ representatives to iron out the issue to ensure workers don’t get demotivated.
