FIBA 3X3 : Kenya World pro-Challenger team named

A squad of four elite players is hopeful of leaving an impressive showing at the FIBA 3X3 World pro Challenger championship scheduled October 1st-2nd in Tianjin,China.

The team, known as Team Mombasa comprising players from Kenya Ports Authority men’s team,

earned the slot at the global championship  after winning the inaugural FIBA 3×3 Lite Quest Kenya, hosted in Mombasa in April 2025.

The squad comprises :Lennox Wanje,Martin Buluma,Salim Kisilu and Tobias Odhiambo.

Kenya Basketball Federation in a communique waxed on the feat:’’This milestone marks Kenya’s debut at a FIBA 3×3 Challenger, underscoring the Federation’s commitment to exposing local talent to international competition and enhancing Kenya’s presence on the global basketball stage’’.

The Kenyan outfit will be Africa’s sole representative at the championship that has also attracted 16 teams from 10 countries.

Kenya is drawn in group A alongside 4th ranked Partizan that consists of 4th ranked Serbia, and Zagreb ranked 13th. The Tianjin Challenger also serves as a qualifier for the  Abu Dhabi Masters, set for October 25-26, 2025, in Dubai.
