Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Television Programmes Manager Michael Ndetei has been nominated to chair the jury of the 2025 African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) Media Awards.
Ndetei expressed his appreciation for the recognition and voiced confidence in working with a distinguished team of professionals from across the continent.
The jury also includes Simona Martorelli, Director of International and European Affairs at Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI); Patricia Claude Kilou, General Commissioner of NISA; Madjid Merahi, Director of External Relations and Programming at Tunisian Television; and Jean Hubert Nankam, a renowned TV producer.
This marks the third edition of the AUB Media Awards, which aim to enhance the production and quality of radio and television content across Africa. The competition accepted entries in all languages spoken within the Union, including French, English, Portuguese, and Arabic.
The preselection of entries was completed on 23rd May 2025. The winning entries will be declared during the 16th AUB General Assembly, to be held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, between 18th and 20th June, 2025.
The awards focus on key categories such as documentary, magazine, reporting, and major report. The entries cover a wide range of themes, including sports, culture, economy, politics, health, environment, science, artificial intelligence, African history, gender, children, people living with disabilities, and fiction based on real-life stories. Cultural traditions such as culinary arts, clothing, crafts, and weddings are also featured prominently among the topics.
Through this initiative, the AUB continues to encourage impactful storytelling and the celebration of Africa’s diverse narratives.
