Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, has been recalled to the national team for the first time since announcing his retirement in 2020 after being snubbed.
The 33-year-old defensive midfielder was named in the Harambee Stars’ provisional squad for the two June, FIFA international friendlies.
Wanyama last featured for Kenya in a 1-2 loss to Comoros in an AFCON Group G qualifier on 15th November 2020.
After being overlooked Wanyama, suddenly announced his retirement in 2021, having featured for the national team 65 times, including 59 starts and scoring 6 goals.
Other notable inclusions in Benni McCarthy’s squad include Kenneth Nyamwaya and Swaleh Pamba.
