Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the closure of Mugeka – Murang’a Road section from Gathaji Junction to Posta in Murang’a Town.
In a statement on X handle, the closure of the said road is as a result of the collapse of the road embankment across five sections, causing significant damage to the road infrastructure and posing serious safety risks to motorists and pedestrians.
In light of this, KeNHA has advised motorists and pedestrians to utilize the following alternative routes:
1. Mugeka – Kaweru Junction – Gakonya – Murang’a route for traffic from Mugeka to Murang’a.
2. Murang’a – Kangema – Kiriani Route for traffic from Murang’a to Kiriaini.
3. Murang’a – Gatiba Junction – Gitugi – Kiriaini route for traffic from Murang’a to Kiriaini.
The Authority says it is actively monitoring the situation on-site round the clock and is determining the necessary remedial actions.
Motorists have been urged to remain vigilant, adhere to safety protocols, and exercise caution, especially during heavy rains, to minimize the impact.
