The national rugby sevens team,Kenya Lionesses has qualified for the play-offs of the World Rugby Sevens challenger series in Los Angeles,USA.
Kenya qualified after winning their opening group A match at the ongoing third round of the challenger series in Krakow Poland.
Kenya defeated Belgium 12-0 but lost to Thailand 12-28 in its second group game but the win against Belgium was enough to see them through.
They wound up their pool matches with a 12-7 win against Colombia to clinch a slot in Saturday’s semis. Kenya leads the challenger series with 40 points while South Africa and Argentina are placed second and third respectively.
The fourth spot is a contest between Thailand and Colombia. Top four teams from the ongoing leg in Poland will qualify for the play off of the series scheduled May 3rd-4th in Los Angeles.
They will battle bottom four teams from the world rugby sevens circuit for a place in next seasons HSBC sevens series.
