The Mr/Ms greater Western Body Building Championship which was initially scheduled June 28th will now be held on July 5th 2025 at Fitness Summit Gym Hall in Kisumu.
The changes according to Kenya Body Building Federation president Chrisantus Omedo were due to unavailability of,Aga Khan Hall, the original venue booked for the championship..
‘’The venue was already booked for another function which we have come to learn about it later thus forcing us to seek an alternative place for the event so we have decided to have the event at Fitness Gym Hall which is opposite Nightingale Hospital in Kondele’’
The championship is expected to attract over 120 body builders majorly drawn from Nyanza and Western region.
‘’We decided to choose Kisumu because quite a huge talent of our athletes come from the region and most of the time when we host events in Nairobi they usually don’t travel and miss out on chance to showcase their talent, so by organizing this competition,it is one way of tapping the talent’’,Kenya Body Building Federation President Chrisantus Omedo told KBC Digital Sport.
The federation will also use the championship to sensitize athletes on the importance of clean sport devoid of doping.
‘’We will enlighten them{body builders} on the dangers and benefits of drug free sport. That’s what we intend to also achieve during the competition’’.
Omedo warned upcoming body builders of using banned substances saying participants at the June 28th event will be tested.
‘’Body builders should realise that there’s life after body building and they should always involve themselves in clean sport, this is very important for their lives, all the upcoming body buildings events will have the body builders being tested’’Omedo remarked.
The championship which will feature both the male and female categories will see competitors battle in four categories which include: body building, bikini, physique and wellness.
