Police in Kitengela, Kajiado East Subcounty, are holding a 24-year-old woman suspected of fatally stabbing her 38-year-old husband on Sunday night after a domestic dispute.

According to police reports, the suspect allegedly attacked her husband with a kitchen knife at their rental house in the Orata area of Kitengela township.

The victim sustained a deep stab wound on the thigh and bled to death.

The suspect reportedly called her father-in-law, Mr. Reuben Thuku Njuguna, at around 8.30PM to inform him of the stabbing.

He said the couple had endured a troubled marriage for the past two years, adding that the suspect had previously stabbed the deceased during a quarrel last year, though the injury was not fatal.

“Their relationship has been strained. Last year, she stabbed him on the chest but he survived. They had no children,” Mr. Njuguna said.

Neighbours at the semi-permanent rental units where the couple lived described them as frequently quarrelling.

Isinya Subcounty Police Commander Simon Lokitari described the incident as unfortunate and urged couples facing difficulties to seek counselling.

The suspect is being held at Kitengela Police Station and is set to be arraigned in court.

The body of the deceased is being preserved at Kitengela Subcounty Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
