The government officials and leaders across the political divide Saturday visited the home of Mzee Joel Oketch to condole with his family following the passing on of his fifth-born son General Francis Omondi Ogolla just a day before his interment.

This was however preceded by a brief service to mark 100 years of age for Mzee Joel Oketch.

The leaders further eulogized the fallen General as a humble public servant whose work ethic will be greatly missed.

Principal Secretary in charge of internal security and government administration Raymond Omollo gave a brief on the procedure for the funeral and burial.

Politics will be kept off the ceremony with only a few speakers from the family, military leadership and select government officials.

There will also be a brief consecration service at Nduru ACK Church that the fallen General had significantly participated in its construction.

On Friday, the 26th of April 2024, a requiem mass will be held at the Ulinzi Sports Complex for the departed General.

General Ogolla was always clear-minded on the strategies the military could execute and the growth of the Kenya Defence Forces. He greatly contributed to modernizing the Kenya Defence Forces with exceptional insights and perspectives on strategic matters.

He was passionate about the welfare of the soldiers, especially those in operational areas.
