The national rugby sevens women’s team,Kenya Lionesses beat Argentina 17-12 to win the first round of the Sevens Challenger series at Athlone Stadium,Cape Town South Africa.
Outstanding Grace Okulu scored the first try and successfully coverted to hand Kenya 7-0 lead after three minutes.
Marianne Escalante touched down to reduce the deficit but Kenya upped the tempo and Judith Okumu scored two more tries to put the Game beyond Argnetina’s reach.

Enroute to the main cup final Kenya had upset hosts South Africa 19-15 in the semi final.
Kenya will be now hoping to continue with the impressive run during the second round of the challenger series which will be held next weekend at the same venue.

After the second round ,the top eight ranked teams will progress to the third and final tournament in April in Krakow , Poland where the four women’s teams with the most cumulative points across the three rounds will qualify for the HSBC sevens playoff in Los Angeles in May this year.
