Maua Talanta Studio, a dynamic collective of musicians, producers, DJs, comedians, and content creators from Maua Town, has been named the Eastern Region Gold Award winner under the Tujiamini initiative an empowerment program by a local gaming firm securing a transformative Ksh 1 million grant.

Established in 2017 with a mission to nurture creative talent within the region, Maua Talanta Studio was born out of a need to offer local artists accessible, quality production services without the long commute to Meru Town or Nairobi. The group formalized its operations as a Self-Help Group in 2018, despite grappling with limited resources, studio space, and funding.

In June 2025, the group applied for support through Tujiamini, a nationwide program championing grassroots talent through financial support and national exposure. Their heartfelt story struck a chord, earning them the prestigious Gold Award and the boost they needed to reimagine their studio’s future.

“This award was a game-changer for us. It gave us the tools, confidence, and credibility to grow. It’s proof that grassroots talent matters and when supported, it can thrive,” said Frankline, spokesperson for Maua Talanta Studio.

With the grant, Maua Talanta Studio has acquired modern musical instruments, a professional video camera, a drone, live-streaming equipment, DJ academy tools, and a full sound system. These upgrades have transformed the facility into a vibrant creative hub, now attracting artists from as far as Samburu, Marsabit, and other regions. Additionally, CBC schools are engaging the studio to provide hands-on learning experiences for students.

A representative from the local gaming firm behind the Tujiamini initiative commended the studio’s journey, saying, “Maua Talanta’s story is a powerful example of how opportunity can unlock potential and create lasting impact.”
