AFCON 2025 hosts Morocco struggled before beating Tanzania by a slim 1-0 win to book their quarterfinal ticket, where they will go toe-to-toe against the five-time champions, Cameroon, this Friday.
Playing in front of over 63,000 home fans at the Prince Moulay Stadium in Rabat, the Atlas Lions, who enjoyed a big share of possession, went all out attacking from the kickoff, but the resilient Taifa Stars defended well to force a barren draw in the first stanza.
The hosts continued with their high pressing game, which resulted in the 64th minute when Brahim Diaz connected a neat pass from his captain, Achraf Hakimi, to beat the goalkeeper to the bottom right corner.
Taifa Stars reinforced their squad in an effort to return into the match and fancy their chances in extra time, but it was done and dusted as the unconvincing Morocco strolled into the last 8.
Morocco will face Cameroon on Friday night at the Prince Moulay Stadium in Rabat in the 2nd quarter-final.
