Organisers of the annual Nairobi City Marathon are targeting to register 18,000 participants for the 4th edition slated for the 6th of next month.
The race which was launched in 2022 has witnessed tremendous growth, with last year’s edition attracting 16,000 participants.
Race Director Barnaba Korir said over 6,000 participants have registered for this year’s edition, which, like past races, will comprise a 42 km, 21 km, 10 km Expressway run and a 4 km family fun run.
“We have already started planning meetings with Nairobi County officials on how to make the race more successful. So far over 6,000 participants have registered, and it’s our hope that we will register over 18,000 competitors.” Korir stated
Other categories will include the half marathon, where winners will be rewarded Ksh 150,000 and the 10 km Expressway run with Ksh 100,000 prize money for the winners.
The aim of the race is to showcase Nairobi city and the Expressway.
