Kenya’s premier beer festival kicked off in grand style as industry heavyweights gathered at the Tusker Brew House for the official launch of the sixth edition of Oktobafest.

The launch event brought together the who’s who of Kenya’s entertainment industry, setting the tone for what promises to be the biggest celebration yet. The event was hosted by Azeezah Hashim and featured performances from Mbithi aka Kamba Boy, the soulful Zaituni as well as renowned DJs Sir M and DJ Lisney.

Among the notable personalities in attendance were musicians Ndovu Kuu, Tipsey Gee, Big Pin, Ayrosh and Fathermoh. Digital creators Kendi Christine, Bonnke West, Kimanzi and Brian Mutinda were also in attendance.

This year marks a significant shift in approach, with organisers adopting what they call a “deconstructed, nationwide” format designed to bring the celebration directly to consumers across different regions.

Marketing Manager Mark Mugisha outlined the vision behind this year’s festival during his address to attendees. “In the six years of providing a platform to celebrate Kenyan beer and culture, we have built a phenomenal property with Oktobafest,” he stated. “Even as the brand evolves and the format varies to meet the needs of our consumers, our commitment to celebrating how we do beer and culture remains unwavering. This year, we are taking the festival to our consumers, allowing us to truly meet them where they are and deepen our social and economic impact across the country.”

The festival’s new approach will see celebrations spread across five key regions, each offering unique, localised experiences. Nairobi fans will be treated to a special “Kulture” experience at Carnivore Grounds on October 4th, featuring a nostalgic throwback to 2000s Kenyan music.

The celebration continues with the Rift Edition on October 11th at Tamasha in Eldoret, followed by the Coast Edition on October 18th at New Big Tree in Bamburi. The Lake Edition will take place on October 25th at Atella Beach Resort in Kisumu, culminating with the Mountain Edition on November 1st at The Stinger Lounge-Kinyuki in Nanyuki.

Now in its sixth year, Oktobafest has established itself as East Africa’s biggest beer festival. The festival offers attendees the opportunity to enjoy over 10 beer varieties from Kenya’s leading brands, complemented by entertainment from homegrown talent.
