It was a bad day in the office for 2nd year running for the 100m Commonwealth Champion Ferdinand Omanyala, as he finished 3rd at the sixth Absa Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour gold series at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Saturday.

Omanyala clocked 10.07 seconds, improving his fifth finish in last year’s edition at Nyayo Stadium.

Australian Lachlan Kennedy emerged victorious in a PB of 9.98, ahead of South African teenager Bayanda Walaza, who won silver in 10.03 seconds.

Despite not winning, Omanyala remained hopeful of posting better results as he shifts his focus to the Rome Diamond League next week.

“I am looking forward to posting better times. My next race will be at the Rome Diamond League next week.” Omanyala said

On his part, Walaza was excited and appreciated Kenyans’ support and the love of the sport as he promised to come back stronger in next year’s edition.

Walaza said, “I felt good. It was a good lineup; it felt like a real championship. I love the atmosphere and how lovely Kenyan fans are. I will definitely be coming back for the next one.”
