The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has dismissed as fake a resignation letter circulating on social media purporting to show that Siaya Governor James Orengo has stepped down from office.
“We can AUTHORITATIVELY state that the letter below is FAKE. Ignore it and FOCUS,” ODM stated on X.
The fake resignation letter comes amid rising speculation over Governor Orengo’s whereabouts, with many Kenyans questioning his absence from public events.
Orengo was last seen in public on June 5, when he spoke at State House, Nairobi, during a meeting hosted by President William Ruto for leaders from Siaya County.
Since then, the county boss has not made any public appearances.

However, his official X account remains active, regularly sharing updates on county activities and development projects.
On July 25, Orengo shared a personal post stating: “Today Betty and I spent a wonderful afternoon at the lovely home of Mr and Mrs K.V. Rao,” accompanied by several photos.
