The Nile Crocodiles of Sudan thrashed Nigeria’s Super Eagles 4-0, in a group D match of the 8th African Nations Championship at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar City yesterday evening.
Leonard Ngenge of Nigeria scored an own goal to give Sudan a lead in the 25th minute before Walieldin Khidir extended the lead a minute from the halftime break.
Abdelrazig Omer scored two goals in the 2nd half as Kwesi Appiah’s men registered their 1st win, eliminating Nigeria, who lost a 2nd successive match after going down 1-0 to defending champions Senegal in matchday1.
Sudan will face Senegal in their last group match next Tuesday in what seems like a winner-takes-all fixture
as Congo takes on Nigeria.
In an earlier match yesterday at the same venue, the Congo Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by defending champions Senegal.
Sudan leads the group on 4 points, the same as Senegal, while Congo is 3rd on 2 points as Nigeria remains pointless.
