Joe Mboya and Ruth Mbeti emerged top in the men’s and ladies’ categories respectively during the ninth leg of the NCBA Golf Series held at Machakos Golf Club.
Playing off handicap 17, Joe Mboya carded an impressive 44 points to clinch the Overall Winner title in the men’s category. He was closely followed by Ben Mumo (hcp 17) with 42 points, while David Mwangtangi (hcp 14) also posted 42 points to finish third on countback. Maruti Litali (hcp 20) rounded off the top four with a solid 41 points.
Commenting on his triumph, Mboya expressed his delight at the win saying, “It’s always a great feeling to come out on top, especially on your home course,” he said. “The conditions were perfect, and the NCBA Golf Series adds that extra competitive edge that makes you want to bring your A-game. I’m grateful to NCBA for creating this platform and I look forward to competing at the Grand Finale.”
In the ladies’ category, Ruth Mbeti, playing off handicap 33, claimed the Overall Lady Winner title with 40 points, while Mercy Nderitu (hcp 33) finished as Runner-up with 35 points.
“I’ve been working hard on my game, and today it really came together. Winning here at home and being part of such a well-organized event is incredibly fulfilling. It was a really tough field today—there were so many good players. The course conditions were fair but definitely tested every part of my game, especially on the back nine. I had to stay very focused. I’m really happy with how I played and I’m excited to keep this momentum going in future events,” said Mbeti speaking on her win.
The tournament also saw exceptional performances in the nines challenge. Eng. Okemwa, playing off handicap 32, secured the First Nine Winner prize with 25 points, while Henry Chipinde (hcp 46) matched that score on the back nine to take home the Second Nine Winner accolade.
Top winners from each leg will qualify for the Grand Finale scheduled for 28th November 2025.
