Sweedish Mondo Duplantis achieved his 14th career global pole vault record at the global Athletics Championships Tokyo 25 on Monday after returning to Tokyo with a 6.30m clearance.

Making a return to the Japan National Stadium, where he had won his first senior global title in 2021, the Swedish star set a new world record on his third and last try to win his third consecutive World Championships title and his eighth major senior international title .

Emmanouil Karalis of Greece won silver in a record-depth competition with a clear 6.00m, while Kurtis Marschall equalled his personal best of 5.95m to win bronze on countback.

In a single competition, seven men cleared 5.90m or more for the first time, and it’s the first time that 5.95m wasn’t enough to earn a medal.
