Reigning World Under-20champion Edmund Serem bagged bronze in the 3000 msc final, his first senior career medal at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday evening.
Serem, who was aiming to reclaim the title the country last won in 2019, finished third in 8 minutes and 34.56 seconds, behind defending champion Soufiane El Bakkali of Morocco, who settled for silver in 8:33.95, 0.03 seconds behind New Zealand’s Geordie Beamish, who won gold.
2023 World bronze medallist Abraham Kibiwot failed to finish the race.
