The Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County is ready to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1st.

The Stadium is set for handover next week after five months of construction a fulfillment of President William Ruto’s commitment to the people of Homa Bay to upgrade the facility into a modern 12,000-seater stadium.

As he led the inspection works of the stadium alongside National Steering Committee for Celebrations Chairperson and Interior PS Raymond Omollo, Sports Cabinet Secretary lauded the progress, saying the stadium will serve as a vital hub for sports and talent development in the region beyond the celebrations.

Local leaders present led by Homabay County Governor Gladys Wanga, expressed satisfaction with the progress not only of the stadium but also of other development projects being implemented by various government ministries in the region.

CS Mvurya further noted that the remarkable progress of the stadium reflects the spirit of unity and shared prosperity currently being fostered in the country, championed by President William Ruto and Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The CS was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Elijah Mwangi (Sports), Betsy Njagi (Blue Economy), Ummi Bashir (Culture and Heritage), Dennis Itumbi (Creative Economy), Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura, Homabay MP Hon.Peter Kaluma Sports Kenya CEO Gabriel Komora, representatives of the National Celebrations Committee, and officials from the Ministry.
